Discretionary

Summer Day Camp

Discretionary Funds from Endowment support worthy projects that are not easily categorized. For example, the Nursery program requested “parent pagers.” Parents who leave young children in the nursery receive a pager. This device blinks or vibrates to alert a parent if they need to return to the nursery for their child. This provides a great relief for both the parents and the childcare givers. Another project was funding for a focus group leader to come to Trinity. This leader came from ELCA’s Chicago office to conduct focus groups to discuss Trinity’s critical issues, part of an overall strategic planning process. Finally, the Endowment Fund contributes to the success of an inner-city summer day camp in Pittsburgh. This favorite ministry of Pastor Hyson’s has an impressive record of community service. The Discretionary category can cover a wide range of requests and ministries.
