Learning Opportunities for Children and Youth

Godly Play for Children ages 3-grade 5:
6:30 p.m.
As part of the Wednesday night F.E.A.S.T. ministry, Godly Play will be available (6:30-7:15 p.m.) for children. What is Godly Play? According to Jerome W. Berryman, “It is his interpretation of Montessori religious education. It is an imaginative approach to working with children, an approach that supports, challenges, nourishes and guides their spiritual quest...It is akin to spiritual direction.”

It does not seek to tell the child what to believe; rather allows the Holy Spirit to reveal God. It gives children a spiritual language to express their experience with scripture, liturgy, the presences of God in their life, and even silence.

An important element of Godly Play is that the room is child-centered. Parents leave their child at the door, not to enter the space that is designed for the child.

If you would be interested in helping with this exciting new approach to sacred sharing, contact Judi Meyer in the church office.
